Touch the Earth ~ Listen to the Rocks ~ They Remember
Most of my jewelry evolves from slices of raw rock hewn from the ground, When one side is polished the intrinsic inner beauty within each piece is revealed. A hauntingly beautiful yet rustic wearable art piece invariably evolves. I am not looking to achieve a polished, perfect, or symmetrical style of jewelry. The world already has too many machine made jewels. Appreciating the more basic vibration, I allow each slice to show case itself whenever possible. My work with rock slices is unique, a bit off the wall and often far fetched. Each of my individually designed pieces definitely has a prospective partner waiting for them somewhere on this planet. Utilizing gemstones, beads and rocks from about the globe, I freely admit to one and all my addiction to one of the world's oldest professions:
The Art of Adornment
Growing up in the wilds of the North Shore of Lake Superior allows me a comfortable serenity and appreciation of the inherent artistic perfection bequeathed to us all from our Earth Mother Gaia. I feel privileged to be given this opportunity to showcase her unique designs in my jewelry. Often I head off on tangents, working numerous threads and ideas into my designs. Sometimes pieces evolve from ancient legends. The "energies" natural stones have hidden within in them waiting to be tapped are often addressed - sometimes their colour or their charm talisman has a story needing to be told.
Fortunately my passion making rock slices into wearable art is developing and blossoming more and more each year - I am overwhelmed at the growing number of people who return each year for another piece of my wearable art for their personal collection - often with friends who wish to view with them. I am so fortunate that even though I am tucked away amidst a wonderful wild forest - in the northern corner of the North Kawartha township in Ontario, Canada they find me - thus my work has wandered the world having found owners from many walks of life. Life is Good.
