February 14 ~ Valentine's Day (Aphrodisia), Feast of Vali

The four-day Festival of Love happened on this day in Rome in honor of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, beauty and desire. Roses are sacred to Aphrodite, particularly the red scented varieties. Honor your loved one with a special dinner or a romantic evening with just the two of you. This is a good day to perform love spells or divination rituals to bring visions of your future lover. Place five bay leaves beneath your pillow in order to dream of the one destined for you. Offer Aphrodite an apple on your altar. Make a charm bag and put a garnet stone, dried rose petals, and a piece of cinnamon; carry it with you to attract love.

In the Asatru tradition, today celebrates the Feast of Vali. It originally celebrated the death of Hodr by Vali. This late winter festival relates to the triumph of the return of the light of the sun over the dark days of winter. Today in the traditional celebration of the family, a time for the customary exchange of cards and gifts with loved ones. It is also a time for the renewal of marriage vows and an occasion for marriages/handfastings.

Some of the old valentine cards really tug at my heart strings.

I am I admit it! A romantic at heart !

Relationships

A relationship is like a rose,

How long it lasts, no one knows;

Love can erase an awful past,

Love can be yours, you'll see at last;

To feel that love, it makes you sigh,

To have it leave, you'd rather die;

You hope you've found that special rose,

Cause you love and care for the one you chose.

The Magic Of Love

Love is like magic

And it always will be.

For love still remains

Life's sweet mystery!!

Love works in ways

That are wondrous and strange

And there's nothing in life

That love cannot change!!

Love can transform

The most commonplace

Into beauty and splendor

And sweetness and grace.

Love is unselfish, Understanding and kind,

For it sees with its heart

And not with its mind!!

Love is the answer

That everyone seeks...

Love is the language,

That every heart speaks.

Love can't be bought,

It is priceless and free,

Love, like pure magic,

Is life's sweet mystery!!

Winter Moonlight

The snow, so peaceful and serene, caressed by the soft moonlight, gave magical feelings to the night.

The soft blue glow, the lovers' words that then did flow, their lips closer and closer until, locked in the throes of a passionate embrace, he decided to express his feelings, to keep her safe.

He whispered softly, his words like music to her ears, "I Love You," and her response the same, heard like the gentle breeze, "And I, love you, forever."

That was the night they promised to be together through everything, each to care for the other when old and gray

A lovers' pact the most likely to last.

Name a Star for the love of your life !

My LOVE Book Mark for 2006

He came to her on a starry night

Her the lady, he the knight

And knelt before her on the ground

Her hands within his own he bound

And gazed into her starlit eyes

Illuminated by the lunar rise

And smiling, produced to her a ring

A trinket to most, a trifled thing

And said to her those words she dreamed

And faltered not, although it seemed

He would.

And she, exuberant, looking down

Could not recall when last she'd frowned

Though tears flowed freely down her face

And settled on her moonlit lace

Her face bespoke rapturous elation

Outshining God's surrounding creations

And opening her delicate mouth
One whispered word made to slip out

And soared across the enchanted night

And on his ears it made to alight
With growing cheer upon its advent

His heart soared forth whenst it gained the content

And all doubts dashed he embraced her dearly

For though it seemed unlikely,

She would.

And spinning upon that ghostly hill

That gorgeous spine of earth instilled
It seemed, with all the wonder of the world

This dear young couple their hearts unfurled

And then, exuberance smiting his face

He stepped away to leave her place

She glanced and questioned lovingly

Where go thou now, my dearest sweet?

And to the world his voice he hurled

"I think, my dear, I shall conquer the world."
