Henry and Meredith visited on Jan.1st . .

The weather was just wonderful for their visit. Enough snow and icicles to keep Meredith content.
It felt like an awful long time since we had seen them last. Merdeith has grown so much both physically and mentally; as well she should!
We were sorry that Gigi was extra busy and couldn't make it. She had to prepare for the new course she is teaching a Duke this upcoming semester and other school related items. |
Like all kids icicles held Meredith's attention - I think she would have taken many home to North Carolina to show her Mom.
She and Henry managed to clear the pond for skating. Brian managed to keep her company everywhere she went. |

He is not getting smaller but has slowed down immensely; now almost nine. He has been the best dog Tom and I have ever had the joy to own. |
Meredith intent on doing "dot to dot" puzzles. Henry said these were also his favorite as a youngster.
Bright and talkative with clear concise words and explanations - very mature for age 6.
Her spelling, writing and math are also way up there.
Impressed indeed we were with this delightful precocious bright grandaughter.

| I gave Meredith a special hand written invitation for her and her doll and one bear to join me for a special tea the next day. I still have her answer on my wall by my computer.. stating very clearly " I am going to come to the tea party". Henry said she was so excited that the next day at 6am she was up talking about going to a tea party. To her 2:30 in the afternoon was years away ;-0
While she and Henry were skating down at the pond. I set the table, made tiny cucumber sandwiches, also some rolled peanut butter sandwich and tiny chocolate cookies - some candles were lit - the TV/radio set to tree house music. Plus made a nice tea from a fruit tea blend I make myself in the fall.
We even had two festive "crackers" to pull so I got to wear a paper hat, as did Annabelle - mine was falling off in the picture below ;-9 - so I look kind of manic.
Meredith came dressed in her beautiful Cinderella dress and wore her a beautiful $ store tiara ;-)) a gift from Grandma Sharon.

The above is the strange way snow comes off the lower garage roof...
After a few days off they went to see Peggy and David and their family before heading back to North Carolina.
Henry's plane went back to Berlin about the 11th.
