Touch the Earth - Listen to the Rocks - They Remember
Peach Perthite or Peach Peristerite or ??

Several years ago we purchased an estate sale of lapidary equipment which also included about a ton of rocks; a wonderful eclectic mix from all over the globe. Some were old friends we already knew - others like this stone we are still trying to decide the correct name.
After all this time I still haven't gone through them completely nor have I put them into any sort of order. However I do have them on a series of shelves, crammed into boxes - even pails in one general area. This allows me to root through them when the spirit moves me. My quixotic brain seems to enjoy the excitement of the ongoing discovery process. I never get too far into the pile before one particular slice or rock grabs my attention and thus I am astray.
Very early on these particular unique slices with their moonstone-ish flash effect found me from within the pile of hundreds of other rocks. Winking brightly these "new to me" rock slices were just waiting for me to oooh and aaaw over their uniqueness. I did and still am.
These peach slices when polished are very spectacular. Alas, then when my stash is starting to get low - so I start rooting around in the rock boxes once more to see if I might have a rock to slice and polish for future creations.
So how do I begin to describe what magick these unique stone carry??
My own ritual is to "go" with what I "know" - and follow the leads outwards then amalgamate my notes into some semblance of order.
So far the main fact is that this stone much like Labradorite begins as being a type of feldspar - so I first researched Feldspar which is a really common rock family of silicates in different crystalline structures and compilations.
All the things which make this stone unique also make other "named" feldspars special such as Labradorite - Moonstone - Amazonite - Sunstone to name a few.
The general properties of all Feldspar is however a constant.
This mineral helps to get rid old unused bits which we all store in our psyche. It encourages one to try out a few unconventional and exciting processes to achieve currant goals. Wearing this stone positively supports your inner being when issues of self awareness and self-love are at the forefront. Thus helping one to acknowledge that when one loves one's self unconditionally it is then much easier to unite with all other the positive aspects of the world.
Moon rocks contain feldspar thus these slices also contain a thread which enables intelligent intergalactic connection and communication.
Feldspar assists you in finding "that" which is misplaced; opening up the door to locating and deciphering unidentified messages both from within and outside self.
Treatment of disorders associated with the skin and muscular structure are helped with this stone.
The next identifying part I consider is the colour of the stone. Colour is capable of having an effect on your psychological, physical, mental and spiritual selves.
Colour Therapy is an ancient form of healing by which humans can be "revitalized and renewed".
Peach being a mix of red and orange makes the research into this delicious tonal mix quite interesting and easily obtained. In this case we not only have a lovely peach tone; but it contains flashes of light blue and white which containing a spectrum of other colours.
It is well known that colourfully scintillating minerals such as Opals, Labradorite or even rainbow Obsidian reveal plays of colour that are more than just the sum of the colours involved. They stimulate activity in the entire organism and accelerate the healing process.
Psychologically their enlivening effect provides joy, desire, and the ongoing enjoyment may awaken old memories or offer relief and relaxation through pleasant pastimes. You can actually think of them as "holiday" stones.
On a spiritual level these same stones lend us the ability to play.
I have been told these slices are called Perthite and I have also been told they live and are found as a by -product in a Rose Quartz Quarry not too far from where we live.
Hopefully my information is correct as this summer we hope to go and locate some more.
So far I have yet to find any photo on the web which is similar to them so I have a nasty suspicion we may have a case of mistaken identity or that this stone is truly unique and rare.
The other piece of information I know is that it is an "Aluminum" Feldspar - as it also has a fantastic blue - white "Schiller" (a directional sheen or shimmer). Most of these crystals tend to grow in flat tabular formations, frequently twinning in complex patterns.
Locations for the gemmy members of this family are a little more scarce, but still, pretty widely distributed as they can be found on all of the major continents.
Thus I can add in here the properties of :
ALUMINUM
ENERGY: projective
PLANET: mercury
ELEMENT: air
POWERS: mental abilities, travel, image magic
Aluminum promotes an alkaline metabolic process, helping with our meat laden acidic diets. It is also very calming allowing one to express feelings. Aids in the realization that modern life's seductions are illusions - therefore we know we CAN deal with its ever constant problems.
DANA (a text book of Mineralogy) describes Perthite - as a flesh-red aventurine feldspar with a marked schiller effect.
Then last fall I came across the following write-up on the web about this beautiful stone which seems to fit. It stated that Perthite helps stabilize and provide continuous cleansing of the aura. It can be used to cleanse, activate and energize crystals which will increase and enhance a healer. Helps provide an objective attitude in resolving conflicts. It is an excellent stone for the rebirthing process. It is helpful in dissipating energy blockages, thus helping to create harmony within ourselves. RARE
Perthite was named in 1843 for a specimen from the town of Perth, which is west of Smith Falls, Ontario.
They are describing my stones! Alas, there is no photo.
I also came across a short note which stated Peach Peristerite - a peristerite variety, which exhibits a beautiful, light-blue. schillerization - this sounds also like this stone but it also was a dead end as for more information.
Dana however states that Peristerite is a white albeit slightly blue iridescent so possibly the person writing the above didn't really know either...
It has been a long continuing search trying to figure out exactly what it is. I have made several pieces of jewelry from them, but alas I seem to have only one picture to share with you all. What can I say but that they are so unique they talk to everyone; thus sell themselves very quickly - I guess I just never got time to photograph them all maybe because the photo never does them justice?
Lately each pendant I make up usually has Peach or Apricot Moonstone beads with it as they work so well with the stone's base colour. Thus now each necklace has peachy Moonstone influences as another chapter within the end description.
Peach/Apricot Moonstone: A wonderful stone of soothing, feminine energy. Calming and brightening the emotions and it helps to improve the wearer's self-image. It reminds us of our own worth and divinity. It invokes sensuality and gentle passion.
So you can see how my ongoing process works. Eventually I have enough information to give to each customer a lovely descriptive folder about their choice when it contains this stone. I do keep my eyes open; when I run across any other tidbit of info which fits I add it to my "Perthite" data base for future reference.
Please note that this same simple process can be used to find out about any stone which has an odd or unusual mix of information to be located.
